Doritos Guru

I was at the store today and found this bag of Doritos. Some of you may have seen this before, but it's the first time I have. It's a contest to come up with a name and an advertisement (TV) for a new flavour of Doritos, with the winner receiving $25,000 + 1% of future sales.

This would have been fun to do but the contest is almost over and the finalists have already been chosen. It's a good way to get the target involved with the product, but I know I haven't heard of it so I'm wondering how many others have. I haven't seen any ads promoting the contest.
You can check out the contest and the submissions at doritosguru.ca

We've been selling them at the Merc here on campus for awhile. Unfortunately, they sold out very quickly each time a new shipment came in so they haven't had much time on the shelves to get the message out.

I've also seen the big bags of them at Superstore.

This is a really cool contest. Kudos to Frito-Lay for the great contests as of late. This is a cool follow-up to the Super Bowl spots contest, and it's pretty sweet how Doritos is really getting people to interact with the brand as of late. Seems like they must have hired themselves an "Experiential Manager" or something to that effect.

This seemed like a pretty cool contest, I bought the chips earlier in March with good intentions of coming up with a name, however time simply didn't allow for it. I know Kenton had also posted the contest specs on the 2nd floor bulletin, too.

I did this in class with the first-year students. I think Jason Booth's name was everyone's favorite: "Rio Heat."

Mine was "Hot August Night," which is the Neil Diamond album where he's sweating profusely on the cover.

No offense to Jason Booth but "Rio Heat" sounds more like a name for the latest perfume offering by Escada. Although, it probably wouldn't work for them either because they've already done Rockin' Rio and Sunset Heat in the past.

And as to why I know these tidbits of info... what can I say? I'm married and my wife loves Escada fragrances.
