So what is up here? What is the angle Pfizer is taking? Something smells in the pharmaceutical world. You all know my thoughts on these companies... but what makes them want to go this route?
I don't buy this for a moment.

I visited the website in the ad:
morethanmedication.ca just to check it out and it has a lot of information on living healthier. I don't see anything wrong with Pfizer doing something "good". God knows they've made enough money off people that they should give something back.
It's no worse than MLC warning people about gambling too much or credit card companies and banks warning about living beyond your means. It's just a public service that they perform because it's good corporate stewardship and good PR.
I get where you're coming from, but they are a drug company who have been making billions off of selling medication to people for years and are now encouraging people not to buy their drugs? That seems a little suspicious. You might think investors and board reps might be a tiny bit upset at the possible stock loss.
Have you heard of any news of them being in financial trouble? Maybe it's inside trouble... one of the board members probably got sick and had to go on the medication. When he took the eighth pill to counteract the side effects of the first seven, realized how ridiculous it is. But I'm not bitter, of course.
They're not actually telling people to not use their drugs. They're trying to promote overall healthier living. By doing this it makes them more personable and theoretically people will look at them in a more favourable light and less like "Big Drug Co." It's just basic PR strategy by the look of things.
