Indy Shmindy
This has become a trend for advertisers. They have been taking no name indy musicians as a way of promoting their brand. If the band makes it big, such as Feist, the brand will turn over higher profits.
Other such companies, like PS3, have being promoting lesser known bands in hopes of making money. Any thoughts?

I kind of like this trend. Everyone likes to be associated with something new. We all want to say we discovered something. I would assume it's the same for brands. If they can hitch their wagon to something new it makes the brand seem cooler and more on the cutting edge than the competition.
I think Apple has done more for select groups and artists with their widespread commercials than many music labels have ever done PR wise for the artists. Even things like the iTunes free download of the week has introduced me to some new bands I probably wouldn't have discovered otherwise.
